PAOLA'S CORNER

It’s nearly a year that the Trevisan International Art experience began, and exactly one year ago I had the chance to meet you, artists I’m now good friends with and from which I receive the energy and the input to move foward in my career and to organize new exhibitions.

This has been a very busy year for me and the building of this website meant lot of more work but I’m very satisfied, I believe TIA is a precious instrument both for me and for artists to be connected and to share experiences and thoughts togheter besides being a qualitative network that gives us an international exposure.

I’m currently preparing the upcoming exhibition that will take place on November at the Estense Castle, in Ferrara, “Traces of Memory”. The choice of the theme came, like always, from inputs I received during last year exhibition, “Spirit”. I consider “Traces of Memory” as a strong trait d’ union between my two most recent exhibitions staged at Castle Estense, ‘Magic’ and ‘Spirit’. Both shows were intrinsically connected to the mystery and the magic.

“Traces of Memory”. It is an acknowledgement and homage to the city of Ferrara and, at the same time, an invitation to artists to relate, consciously and unconsciously, their own ‘sense of history’. I am confident that each artist will express, through his or her own heart and mind, a strong and magical interpretation of this theme.

New members will join our website, and I trust they will bring new and dynamic ideas, so be ready to have new friends!

NANCY REYNER
14 April 2008

Nancy is celebrating one year since the release of her new book Acrylic Revolution. With over 100 painting techniques specifically focused on acrylic, this book is currently the #1 Best Seller for publisher North Light Books, and has sold over 20,000 copies to date. Nancy noticed that acrylic is often forced into a narrow playing field, mostly used to imitate oil or watercolor mediums and processes. And yet, this relatively new medium has so much more to offer. Nancy decided to write a book geared for the professional artist. Instead of the usual “how-to” book focusing on copying, this book is laid out recipe book style, with each page introducing a different technique. The basic idea then, is that an artist can create their own unique style by selecting and combining techniques to produce something new. Therefore, each technique ends with a technique NOT a painting. Nancy is sponsored by an American acrylic paint company, Golden Artist Colors, Inc. who has invited her to visit the paint lab, and gets up to date technical advice and news, along with the chance to try the latest acrylic products.
